Introduction:The Scientific Computing Immersion Day series continues with this second all-day workshop on March 21st with AWS specialists. UCF research community is invited to a series of BYOD hands-on sessions on Big Data Analytics. AWS technical experts will explain key features and use cases of advanced computing, share best practices, walk through technical demos, and be available to answer your questions one-on-one.

This introductory session provides a broad overview of Amazon Web Services, including why researchers use AWS. Topics will include the AWS global infrastructure and security as well as tools and considerations for High Performance Computing (HPC), High Throughput Computing (HTC) and Big Data.

Session 2: Big Data Analytics - Download Slides

The session will discuss big data challenges and provide an overview of the AWS Big Data Platform. We'll dive into common data lake reference architectures and how it fits into the various big data services.
We'll give an overview of the rapidly expanding functionality AWS offers across big data stores, data warehousing, distributed analytics (supporting Hadoop, Spark, HBase, Hive, Pig and Yarn), Machine Learning and Business Intelligence. We'll then deep dive into the Hadoop and Spark ecosystems on AWS and compliment the presentation with a set of demonstrations.
